Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry Mission

It is the mission of the Campus Ministry program to help all members of the Saint Joseph community develop and deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. We provide opportunities for growth in faith and spiritual development to live the joy of the Gospel.   We seek to do this through providing opportunities for worship, sacraments and faith sharing as well as adoration, retreats and service opportunities.  Our ultimate goal is for each student to have a thriving spiritual life. We aim to collaborate with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and pastors to reach this goal.  Our students are the future of the Church, and the future leaders of our society.

Prayer Life

The Latin Maxim "Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi" essentially means the way we pray is how we believe, and that it is prayer that leads to belief. At Saint Joseph High School we seek to live our faith by primarily being rooted in a strong prayer life. Because of this, everything we do is rooted in prayer.

The Catholic Mass is the foundation of our Catholic identity, and it is primarily where we encounter Christ and are spiritually nourished. We have a monthly school-wide liturgy in which students take leadership positions in all aspects of ministry. We also have Daily Mass open to all students, faculty and staff before school.

Morning Prayer

We have morning student-lead prayer every day.

We have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every first Friday of the month. Students can sign up for a 15 minute time slot for prayer and quiet time in front of the Blessed Sacrament.

We have Advent and Lenten Penance services in addition to confession every first Friday.

Service Hours

At Saint Joseph High School, we believe that serving others is an essential element of living the gospel of Jesus Christ. We require all students to serve as part of our mission of enlightened citizenship and shaping the world through Catholic values.

Freshmen and Sophomores participate in a day of service with their class. These students will have the opportunity to serve in local food pantries, soup kitchens and nursing homes to help those less fortunate in our community.

Juniors and Seniors are required to complete their service hours on their own and are graded on their completion of those hours. Saint Joseph High School provides a calendar of events for students and parents to find service opportunities to more easily fulfill their hours.

Retreats Program

All Juniors and Seniors at Saint Joseph High School are required to attend one retreat per year. Our Kairos retreat program is central to the spiritual life of Saint Joseph High School. Kairos is a four day out of school retreat program that is life changing. We have two student run Kairos retreats per year that are open to all Juniors and Seniors. In addition, for those who can't join us on Kairos, there are retreat days for both the Junior and Senior class. This is a one day retreat that takes place during school hours, but outside of school. We find that it is a great time of reflection and bonding at the end of the school year.

Our Kairos retreat program was so successful that we decided to extend the opportunity to 7th and 8th grade students from other Catholic schools in our area. Our former Kairos leaders are thrilled to host a one day retreat for these students focusing on the journey from elementary school into high school becoming strong young Christian leaders.

Pro-Life Club

Saint Joseph High School is proud to attend the March for Life in Washington, DC every year. In addition, the pro-life club hosts a pro-life speaker and raises awareness for pro-life issues through various events throughout the year.

RCIA (For Teens)

Students who have not yet completed their sacraments have the opportunity to prepare for them at school. Mrs. Rivera works after school in small groups to help facilitate students to receive or complete their sacraments through their Parish.
