Admission Timeline Senior Year
September/October
Make a list of potential colleges from Naviance
Call Admissions counselors and schedule open houses, tours/interviews at colleges
Decide on what colleges you want to apply
Complete resumes and give them to your teachers/counselor for letters of recommendation two weeks before application deadlines
Register for the SAT/ACT and/or Subject SAT (Ivy League )-School Code 310500
Fill out on-line college applications and then bring Mrs. Scola your St. Joseph parent permission transcript release authorization forms for each college you apply
Bring college or common application teacher/counselor forms to Mrs. Fourney and the teachers you choose to write a recommendation
Attend the “Hello Senior” parent presentation
November/December
Be aware of college application deadlines
File for a FASFA(financial aid) pin number on-line
Register for the NCAA Clearinghouse if you plan to participate in Division I or II sports
By now you should have visited all the colleges you apply
Attend the St. Joseph “Financial Aid Night” with parents
January/February
After your parents file their yearly income tax, Fill out the on-line FASFA
Look for outside scholarships (St. Joe website, Fastweb.com, parents work, community)
Fill out parent permission transcript release authorization forms for each scholarship and give to Mrs. Scola
March/April
Be sure all college applications are complete
Check with each college for their policy on deposits/confirm enrollment
Be prepared for the arrival of your financial package from each college that you applied
May 1st deadline to enroll at the college of your choice
Request that all final transcripts be sent to the college of your choice
SAINT JOSEPH HIGH SCHOOL COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCEDURES
APPLY ON-LINE
ALL COLLEGE AND SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS MUST BE PROCESSED THROUGH THE GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE PROCEDURES:
Step 1)
Use Naviance to locate the colleges of your choice. Apply on-line to the colleges/universities that you visited and decided was a “good fit” for you.
Step 2)
Request the necessary teacher and/or counselor recommendations by providing each teacher and/ or counselor with a completed resume (two weeks before application deadlines).
Step 3)
Know each college application deadline.
Step 4)
Make sure you are registered or have already taken the SAT’s or the ACT’s twice (SAT Subject Test for Ivy League Schools). St. Joseph High School Coded is 310500.
Step 5)
Fill out a parent permission transcript release authorization form and have it signed by your parents. This gives us permission to send your transcripts to the colleges that you have applied.
Step 6)
Once you have completed your college applications on-line, bring us the following:
1. Your essay if you did not send it on-line
2. Your resume if you did not send it on-line
3. Application fee unless you paid with credit card on-line
4. Parental permission transcript release authorization form for each college
5. Any college or common application teacher/counselor transcript release forms
6. One large envelope per college
7. Three stamps not attached to envelope
8. Transcript fee - $1.00 until December/ $2.00 after December
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE OF THE FOLLOWING DEADLINES FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION MATERIALS TO GUIDANCE
1. All early decision applications must be in the Guidance Office no later than November
2. All applications with a January deadline must be in the Guidance Office no later than December
3. All other applications must be in the Guidance Office at lease two weeks prior to the application deadline
The Guidance Office will not guarantee applications being sent out on time unless the student meets these deadlines!
